I’ve worked in all areas of insurance including claims, risk management and commercial underwriting. How could I use this expertise to help people? Shannon lives in Middle Sackville with her husband, twin boys and cat. Throughout her 19 years in the Commercial Insurance Industry, Shannon has attained many skills, education and experience with a broad range of client industry basics, from small business practice to large General Contractor and Sub-Contractor Construction, including CCDC Documents and Surety and e-bonds, as well as other types of Risk Management accounts including Government Entities, Communications and Global Manufacturing and Distribution.
When she is not working, Shannon enjoys many outdoor activities such as camping, biking, and softball. She can also be seen at rock concerts and supporting local music artists.
When asked what she loves about working with Steers Insurance Brokers Inc., Shannon said, “Working for a local business gives me the opportunity to inquire how a brokerage is managed, observe the intricacies of insurer relationships and provides me with the opportunity to implement my skills and knowledge to grow my client base.”

Personal Lines Account Manager
Dawn works at Steers Insurance in in-house sales. Prior to working at Steers she spent seven years in the army, as well as time as a special events coordinator and business owner. Originally from BC, she loves working at Steers because of the “customers come first” philosophy and the light-hearted office environment. Dawn is known for her honesty, integrity and sense of humor.
When she is not working, Dawn is travelling or spending time with family.

Jackie calls East Hants home, but when she is not there spending time with family, friends or relaxing with yoga or reading, she is hard at work at Steers! Jackie processes new business and policy changes as well as helps with administration duties. She has worked in the insurance industry for 29 years, two of which has been with Steers. She not only enjoys the people but loves a good challenge.

Sharon is in the business of protecting the personal and business assets of Steers clients against loss that could cripple them financially in the event of an insurable claim on their business, personal property and automobiles. She works to protect people the best way she knows how – INSURANCE. With over 2 decades in the industry, in both the company and broker’s side, Sharon has extensive experience in management, claims and accounting.
Sharon is driven by customer satisfaction, solving problems, price vs coverage and having a happy customer even in a bad situation, such as claims. She has worked with Steers for six years and loves the people, freedom, atmosphere, and, of course, her clients.
When Sharon is not working, she can be found spending time with family, enjoying time with friends, at her cottage, and enjoying activities outside. She loves when people smile and are nice to each other, “It takes more muscles to smile than it does anything else!”

Paul is a Commercial Insurance Broker, responsible for producing and servicing commercial clients. Being from Yarmouth and now residing in Bridgewater, Paul especially can relate to the on-going challenges that business owners face throughout the Maritimes. Paul began his insurance career several years ago with a large regional brokerage. He also worked with an international brokerage in commercial and industrial insurance. These experiences allowed him to specialize in a variety of commercial insurance products. Before joining the insurance industry, Paul ran his own company for 26 years. His background as a business owner has enabled Paul to understand and develop unique knowledge of daily challenges faced by business owners. Paul has developed strong relationships with the top insurance companies in our region, which is key to securing the right commercial insurance policies at the right pricing. He has achieved an important insurance qualification by successfully completing the Canadian Accredited Insurance Program (CAIB).
When he is not working, Paul is enjoying time with family as well as woodworking and spending time in the great outdoors boating, fishing, and playing hockey.

Heather has been a valued Steers team member for 13 years, since shortly after we opened our doors. She has 20 years of experience in the industry as well as CRM and CIP designations. Since that time, Heather has helped countless clients insure their biggest investments, including their homes, cars and businesses. Known for her integrity and honesty, Heather is responsible for all aspects of commercial and personal insurance, including claims advocacy, quoting, and problem-solving.
When not working, Heather calls Hammonds Plains home. She enjoys spending time with her family, building their cottage as well as shopping for vintage items at second-hand stores and yard sales, repurposing those finds and decorating.

Denise handles all of Steers' financials and has worked with Steers for seven years. Before coming to Steers she ran an office of 17 realtors and worked for five years in law offices. She has 15 years of accounting related employment. She enjoys working at Steers because she enjoys the work she does, and loves the easy-going nature of her co-workers.
When she is not working, she can be found spending time with family. Denise prides herself in doing the best work she can, and treats clients the way she expects and wants to be treated. Her biggest pet peeve is tardiness.
